Jade at Muffin Tea House has nominated us for a Liebster Award. What the heck is a Liebster Award? I’m not exactly sure. Is it a form of lobster?
Probably not, but wouldn’t Liebster the Lobster be the best character EVER?
I googled it. It is not a lobster (frowny face). It is a blogging award, though. And it has rules. Rules…made to be broken? Perhaps. Perhaps not (it kinda depends on whether or not Evening is looking).
Those rules (made to be broken) are: I must tell you 11 things about myself (why 11? Am I too boring for 12? Too interesting for 10? But I digress); I must answer 11 questions that Jade has put forth; I must create 11 questions for people that I nominate for this award, all – you guessed it – 11 of them; I must link up those 11 to this post.
Egads! I’ve got work to do.
So, without further ado here are 11 things about me (not 12, not 10):
1.
I have a rather odd sense of humour and I’m
cool with that.
2.
I was
raised by trees (not wolves, trees. Get that straight).
3.
I’m
kind of a hippie
4.
I have
been refusing to grow up since I was (gasp!) 11
5.
My travel
dream is to visit the Ngorongoro Crater
6.
I now
want a pet lobster solely so that I can name it ‘Liebster the Lobster’
7.
I’m
addicted to making toys for my daughter, Evening, that she is not even old
enough to play with yet
8.
I still
can’t believe someone left me in charge of a real, live baby
9.
I
desperately want someone to open a gay bar called ‘the Lonely Moustache’
10.
I have
a friend whose goldfish are named ‘Fin’ and ‘Tail’ and I am currently trying to
bribe her to change those to ‘Fin’ and ‘Tale’
11. I adore ferns. They are so full of life that they fill me
with joy
Now for part 2 – I must answer Jade’s questions:
1.
How is your day so far? Pretty fabulous,
thank you!
2.
Why do you blog? I blog to remember
all the little things about my daughter Evening being this size and that size,
and all the sweet/ funny/goofy things she does.
3.
Ever drunk text someone? No. In fact, I’ve never been a phone person. (Drops to a whisper) I don’t actually have a
cell phone and I don’t want one.
4.
What
is your passion?
Right now it’s making sure that Evening has a happy and magical
childhood.
5.
Read
any good books lately? Why yes, I have. ‘The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a
Ship of Her Own Making’ by Catherynne M Valente. In fact, close your computer and go read it
right now, it’s fantastic.
6.
What
is the most daring thing you’ve ever done? Cuddling a lion every morning for a few
summers ;)
7.
Know
any good jokes? Maybe. Q – what do vegan zombies eat? A – Grrrrrrrains
8.
If
you could live in another city, where would you live? Moncton, NB, my hometown and where the heart
longs to be.
9.
What
skill or ability do you wish you had? I’ve always wanted to be able to shrink down
and explore things like hollow trees (dreamy sigh)
10.
Who
would play you in a movie? Bobo the gorilla.
11. What did you eat today? Cereal for breakfast, leftover tortillas for
lunch.
Thanks for those, Jade,
that was fun.
And now (insert evil
laugh) it’s time for my questions:
1.
What would you name a pet lobster?
2.
Are you
willing to open a gay bar named ‘the Lonely Moustache’?
3.
What
were you raised by?
4.
How did
your parents/guardians/alternate lifestyle family leaders meet?
5.
What is
your favourite book of all time?
6.
Have you ever had an original idea?
7.
Who is
you hero/heroine?
8.
Who is
your favourite tree (specimen, not species)?
9.
Please
tell me the life story of your favourite pet.
10.
What is
your guilty pleasure?
11. Who do you want to be
when you grow up?
the nominees:
Lou-Ann from the Misplaced Mermaid
In the meantime, how about another glimpse of ol’ Liebster the Lonely Lobster for the road

I can't help but feel that Liebster the Lobster could have a starring role in the Misplaced Mermaid's Movie. But then, she would probably eat him, wouldn't she? I love your sense of humor. Or is it humour in your world? I'm not sure because I only speak English. I don't know if I'd love to be nominated but I'd be willing to be one of your eleven.
ReplyDeleteLiebster the Lobster tells me that he would love to be in the Misplaced Mermaid's Movie, even if she eats him.
DeleteThose pesky u's - in Canada we have 'our' instead of 'or' even though it's all English, it confuses everyone, including me!
Consider yourself nominated!!
How did I miss this post?! I'm legit cracking up at "Grrrrains" and the "Lonely Moustache" (I've never thought much about it before, but now I agree, that gay bar really does need to happen). I adore your blog so much!
ReplyDeleteYou are hilarious, Jennifer!! THANK YOU for posting this. Sorry I haven't come here sooner to comment! This was a pleasure to read!
